afoundobject: to do this year: Crane Pose

This year, I will learn how to do Crane Pose.

It's one that really freaks me out, but I'm going to suck it up and learn how to do it. Cuz I said so.

afoundobject: walkin!

Part of my job entails delivering hand comps (aka print outs) of things I've designed to high-ups to have them approve.  I'm off campus, so that means I have to drive to the hospital proper, then park.  From there, I have to visit the two main buildings and hand deliver these comps to the various offices they need to go to.

Almost everyone uses the shuttle bus between buildings, because it's easy and fast.  I usually use it to get back and forth.  But not today.  Today, I walked EVERYWHERE.  Instead of waiting for the shuttle, I bundled up and headed out, walking between buildings.  It was really nice and brisk.  I was surprised by how quickly I got over the awful cold and grew my thick seal hide.  Within minutes, I was just staring around at all the pretty winter scenery and enjoying the sunshine.

For bonus points, I used no elevators today.  I just hoofed it up the stairs.  I figure why be lazy when you can get the blood flowing?

Now I'm proud of myself.

afoundobject: My Adventures with the Batshit Insane Yoga Guru and the Crazy Ball of Awesome

I asked for a bunch of random stuff for christmas, including the Siva Rea Yoga Trance Dance DVD and a yoga/exercise ball from Gaiam.  Both of which were aimed to help me in my main goal for 08, but on two different routes.  Siva Rea was for my crazy, hippy dancer cardio side, the Gaiam ball was for my need to get toned, healthy muscles side.

Both of which, my friends, are FOR THE WIN.

YOGA TRANCE DANCE- I hate to admit how much I love this crap.  And it IS crap.  Crazy, burner-friendly, hippy, fire energy, dancing like you're possessed, crazy crap mixed with yoga.  And I LOVE IT.  I put this on in the morning, program my practice (it has this really cool module where you can build your routine) and go to town.  It gets me energized, melts stress away and makes me feel humbled and silly all at once.  It combines all the fluidity and grace of dance movements with some nice poses and new versions of asanas.  And the Water Salutations? LOVE EM!  They're fluid, beautiful and entrancing.  I have to admit that I feel like a CRAZYFOOL when I do this tape, but in a really good way.  Like, admitting you like watching the Judge TV shows, Dr Phil or People's Court kind of way.  Like, "I know it's weird and crazy that I enjoy this but it's my life, fool and I DO WHATTA WANT!!"

I would suggest this DVD to both dance pros and yoga people alike.  Especially if you're the kind of person who likes to laugh at themselves sometimes, because this DVD makes you do some whacked-up, crystal worshipping hippy crap.  BUT I LURVES IT.

Note: you need to have a bit of room for this one.  I do it between my couch and tv center.
Note II: you will need a good yoga mat as they're a lot of floor movements.
Note III: you will have to make sure no one is around to point and laugh at what a tard you look like.

GAIAM Ball Kit:  I bought a balance ball because I like bouncing on my friend La's so much. I saw this kit and was like...hrm... Comes with a theraband and workout DVD?  Shrug!?  Why not?

I did the whole workout last night and I have never NEVER accessed my arm, leg and ab muscles so well.  It seemed like really easy and fun exercise, but today.  WHEW!  I am hurtin!  I had a great time doing the DVD, as they actually make you bounce for parts of the exercise.  It was so fun!  And I much prefer using the bands to free-weights.  It was easy and like a science experiment trying to figure out how to wrap the bands around things- my foot, my hands, the ball.  Plus, I kept laughing because I was like, "DOOOD... I'm on a giant BALL, Yo!"  funny.

And the BEST part is that I super blasted my abs!  They're all buff feeling now.  RARARRRR!!

I'm gonna keep on keepin' on with both of these and get back to you later.  We'll see if I'm lifting cars with my killer arms and abs while calling my Kali energy at the same time in the near future.

afoundobject: you have to make me do this

don't let me geek out and think i'm not good enough for this job at the Smithsonian Institute.

Even if I don't get it, I have to try.  I've always dreamed of working there.

trying to stick to goals is hard lately. :(  especially when you eat out for co-worker's birthdays....
